Lila Moreno grew up in Oakland, learned flamenco guitar at sixteen, and now writes verses in Spanish before translating them for herself. Her sound is rasgueado flourish meets West Coast picking.
Spanish first, then English
Moreno writes poetry in one tongue, then understands it in another. “A language closer to the truth,” she calls the Spanish draft. “Luego lo traduje para mí.”
Oakland at sixteen
She started playing flamenco in Oakland as a teenager. The Venezuelan-American hands on the fretboard carry both traditions at once.
